A minifigure or LEGO minifigure represents a person in the LEGO world.

Minifigures are typically 4 bricks high and typically feature a hair piece or hat, a head, a torso feature moving arms, and legs, which can be moved at the hips but not at the knees or feet.

History of the minifigure

LEGO minifigures were first produced in 1978 and have been a success, with over 4 billion produced worldwide as of 2020 (see our list of other LEGO facts!). Original LEGO minifigures didn’t have moveable legs or arms!

LEGO minifigures began with yellow flesh; LEGO introduced the first minifigures with true flesh colours in 1999 with the launch of the LEGO Star Wars line. Since then, LEGO introduced minidolls for their LEGO Friends theme, as well as bigfigs, nanofigs, and microfigs to represent figures at different scales.
