What is a LEGO fan event?
Our definition of what constitutes a LEGO fan event from last year’s list is:
a LEGO fan event is a short term (one, two or three day) display of LEGO models built by fan and amateur builders. Some events may provide activities for visitors, and trade stalls to buy LEGO sets, figures, parts and merchandise
There are a few things this list doesn’t generally include:
- workshops and activities involving LEGO bricks
- events which aren’t predominantly LEGO focused – this can include model engineering shows which may contain some LEGO model displays, but not as a primary focus
- travelling LEGO model exhibitions in museums and other venues
The number of model displays will vary between events – commercial events typically have more trade spaces than models, whereas fan events may have more models on display and fewer trade stalls. Every event organiser is different, so it can be trial and error to find which type of events you enjoy most.
Changes to the list for 2026
There are not many changes to the format of our LEGO fan event list for 2026, other than:
- Minor style changes – our website has had a refresh, so the events list has too. In particular, this should be easier to scroll on handheld devices
- Favourite community events are now shown with more screen space. These are community-run events a Bricks McGee team member has visited and enjoyed.
- New community events are shown more prominently
- Event sizes now list an estimated number of visitors per day. This isn’t a perfect metric for categorising LEGO fan events, but hopefully gives some idea of the scale – and therefore the likely number of displays / trade stalls – at each event. We added this to make our categorisation of events more consistent, as the boundaries were previously a little unclear in some years.
