We headed north for a weekend in County Durham in mid November for Brick Alley’s Shildon Brick Show 2024.

Shildon Brick Show is hosted at Locomotion museum, the event has been running since 2015 or so, and showcases models by LEGO fan builders across the UK, as well as a range of activities and a marketplace of traders.

Our favourite LEGO models at Shildon Brick Show 2024

As usual, here’s our round up of favourite LEGO models on display at Shildon Brick Show this year

Maxine’s brilliant LEGO zoo model made its debut at Shildon Brick Show this year. Featuring some superb landscaping and lovely comic scenes (the otter on the stretcher was our favourite!), it was a brilliant display visually. Follow her on YouTube at @ZooBricks for more updates.

LEGO castle diorama by Andy Rose

Andy’s LEGO castle scenery has been growing this year, expanding in to this impressive diorama featuring custom-built castles and a brilliant motorised waterfall.

Chloe’s LEGO theme park

Another first-time displayer, Chloe’s LEGO theme park packed plenty of movement and detail in, with a mix of LEGO sets and modified sets used to create a vivid landscape of a theme park we’re dying to visit.

This year’s events are nearly at an end now, but check out our calendar of LEGO fan events for 2025 for more great days outs across the UK and Ireland!

John Lowsley’s town scene

John’s models have been featured before on the Bricks McGee blog, and his latest creation – a LEGO town scene – is worthy of mention again!

Another model we spotted of his which was worthy of mention was his LEGO habitat of William Henry Fox Talbot, a pioneer of photography, in the Brick Alley collaborative “Famous Brits” build this year – the background representing camera film is superb, and the use of the printed parts from LEGO’s recent camera set in lovely too!
