Heading north from Nottingham again at the weekend (but not as far as Edinburgh!), we headed to Darlington Brick Show, organised by Brick Alley LUG.
This year’s event was in a new venue, Hopetown, home to a museum celebrating Darlington’s link to the early Stockton and Darlington Railway in the North East of England. Split between the museum in the old railway station building, the carriageworks, and the A1 Trust Building where new steam locomotives are being built, the site is steeped in history!

Harry Potter TVs by Mim Porter
Mim took the recent gift-with-purchase LEGO TV set and adapted it to show scenes from the Harry Potter series, showing that models don’t have to be huge for visitors to enjoy.
LEGO book scenes by Niki Philips
Niki’s brilliant book scenes built from LEGO bricks also went to show that models don’t have to be big to have an impact with visitors. We loved the idea and the execution of these – so much detail in a small footprint! Can you guess which books are represented? Answers below.

Castle by the Armitage family
Our final pick of models from Darlington Brick Show 2026 was this LEGO castle scene built by the Armitage family – packed full of little scenes and it made good use of existing LEGO sets and modifications.
