June came around quickly again this year, and we headed back to the Parades de Coura LEGO Fan Weekend event in northern Portugal to see the international LEGO fan community in action.
With exhibitors from across Europe, Australia, New Zealand and America, there was a vast selection of themes and ideas on display.

Here are our favourite models from the weekend at Parades de Coura Fan Weekend, hosted by members of 0937 Comunidade, a LEGO User Group in Portugal.
Dom Luis I Bridge by Jakob Escher
This stunning model of Porto’s famous bridge was built by Jakob, who we featured from last year’s event too. Changing Mexican history for something a little more local, Jakob built this stunning model of the Dom Luis I Bridge from tens of thousands of LEGO bricks.
Not only was the bridge itself impressive, but the landscaping and architecture on both sides of the river Douro is superb – almost nothing in on a standard grid! Built from around 65,000 LEGO bricks, the bridge took Jakob around 12 months to build.
Chancel of Porto Cathedral / Capela Mor Sé do Porto by Custódio Sousa
This fan-built LEGO model of the chancel of Porto Cathedral by Custódio Sousa drew our eyes too – the interior was particularly stunning, and made good use of lighting to allow visitors to see every ornate detail.

This favela model on display at the PdC LEGO Fan Weekend was beautifully done, creating colourful cramped conditions of inner city living from LEGO bricks. With plenty of minifigures and scenes to bring it to life, it’s a beautiful caricature of the real thing.
