Huge LEGO micropolis city by the Cole Brothers at LEGO fan event Bricktastic 2024 in Manchester UK

We returned to Manchester Central Convention Centre for Bricktastic 2024, two days of LEGO fun in the centre of Manchester.

As the largest LEGO fan event in the UK with funds going to the great work that Fairy Bricks do, Bricktastic brought LEGO model builders from around the world together with a range of hands-on activities, and plenty of chances to spend some pocket money!

Crazy Brick Golf at Bricktastic 2024

As part of our support for Bricktastic this year, Bricks McGee ran our Crazy Golf Brick sessions, encouraging visitors to build an obstacle for our crazy golf course from LEGO bricks and play a round of golf. There were many epic creations including intricate mazes, huge animals and sculptures to put through, and even a loop-the-loop to play through. Many thanks to Jenny, Sammy and Richard for their energy running the activity which proved very popular all weekend!

Our pick of LEGO models from Bricktastic 2024

Choosing our favourite LEGO models at an event this size is a very hard task, but here is a selection of highlights from the Bricks McGee team at the event:

Simon Scott’s floating castles

Stunning architecture coupled with the awe-inspiring balance of these castles floating really push LEGO bricks to the limits in this clever series of castle buildings on slim rocky outcrops built by Simon Scott – LEGO fan builder of the Nightmare Before Christmas LEGO set coming later this year.

James and Mark Cole’s micropolis LEGO city

Impressive in both scale and attention to detail, this huge LEGO micropolis scene was built in around a year by brothers Mark and James. The harbour and container scene really stood out – some interesting angles, and the sheer scale of this was really impressive:

Rob Gray’s monster truck arena

This LEGO monster truck arena was a great spot at Bricktastic 2024. Built by Rob Gray of Brickshire, it nicely mashes LEGO themes together with a classic town monster truck, Percy the tank engine monster truck, and more. Can you spot logos from various LEGO themes recreated in the arena walls?

Viking elephants

These are two words we didn’t think we’d write in the same sentence – Viking elephants! This display by Hannah Gwynne blends LEGO vikings with beautifully brick-built elephants, treking through a forest with various fauna and flora (not the mushrooms and ferns – really nice additions to the colour and texture of the scenery). The impressive brick-built elephants are based on designs by Made With Brix.

Thanks to Fairy Bricks for organising Bricktastic again, as we know it’s takes colossal effort each year – what a superb weekend for LEGO fans in Manchester! If you’re looking for more LEGO fan events in the UK, check out our list.
