It’s hard to imagine the long, warm summer days approaching, but the summer holidays are quickly approaching so now’s an ideal time to book activities for your museum!

Bricks McGee workshops are designed to be hands-on, engaging and fun , and we have a variety of activities with LEGO bricks designed to tie in with key themes – we can even create workshops with activities customised to your own museum.

Our workshops target the 5 – 11 year old age range, but we aim to get every member of the family building with us – and we also run Bricks + Beers activities for adults! Workshop costs include a Bricks McGee facilitator, hire of our workshop kits, and our travel costs.

Our ideas for summer holiday activities for museums

Add hands-on, creative fun to your museum or visitor attraction over the summer holidays with our workshops with LEGO bricks – thousands of bricks ready to build with, with an array of structured activities led by one of our passionate facilitators.

Big Build – build a large model from LEGO bricks with the public!

Our Big Build projects create a large model customised to your venue, and allows the public to come along and contribute. Here’s an example from English Heritage’s Kenilworth Castle – with the Elizabethan gardens built my members of the public from LEGO bricks over 10 days onsite.

A great, fun day out for all ages – and visitors also received a famed Bricks McGee certificate for their efforts! Custom model projects usually start at around 6 weeks, so there’s still time to book for this coming summer holiday season.

Drop in workshops for museums

Crazy Brick Golf LEGO activity at Bricktastic 2024 in Manchester UK

Our drop in workshops are great for busy museums looking to add a glimpse of fun for families over the summer holidays. In this format, visitors engage with a single, 15 – 20 minute task. Typically, these can be:

  • Tower building competition – mums, dads and kids get competitive building the tallest tower from LEGO bricks, as we keep a leader board of the winners
  • Pullback race cars – build a quick race car with one of LEGO’s brilliant pullback motors, and pit it against other families
  • Local landmarks – great for local history museums – ask your visitors to reimagine the local area in LEGO bricks
  • Cray golf – build your own obstacles for a crazy golf course and tee off!

This allows for higher capacity participation for busy weekends and bank holidays in the UK, whilst providing a memorable activities for your museum’s visitors.

Build & Take workshops

Leave your visitors with a little something to remember your museum by with a make and take workshop. We can create a custom gift from LEGO bricks relevant to your museum, and visitors can build this onsite and take it home with them! A great way to celebrate your museum’s special anniversaries, or bring in a new audience.

From design and production to facilitating your event on the day, Bricks McGee can provide a full service so you can focus on your visitors!
